Certificate vs. CertificationCertificate vs. Certification

Mount Aloysius College will grant a telehealth certificate to students successfully meeting all of the requirements of the program. A certificate should not be confused with certification. While the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nurses (AAACN) has developed a "telehealth certification" for nurses, with an exam administered through the National Credentialing Council, the primary focus of the AAACN certification has been on telephone triage nurses practicing in call centers. To date, there is no certification examination covering the broad scope of current telehealth practice among clinicians. However, different telehealth and clinical professional organizations are exploring certification opportunities. The Mount Aloysius College Telehealth Certificate Program provides a strong foundation for any telehealth certification program developed in the future.

Additionally, and specific to nurses, the program courses meet the CE requirements for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification in the field of nursing informatics and also meet mandatory continuing education requirements as mandated for re-licensure by some health care disciplines.

If you are interested in using this program for credit toward a degree, check first with the college or university granting the degree. Requirements and policies regarding the transfer of credit differ among institutions.
