Dr. Emily Houseknecht graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Following graduation, Dr. Houseknecht worked in a variety of PT settings, including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled rehabilitation, and home health care. Dr. Houseknecht is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor, Certified Exercise Expert in the Aging Adult (CEEAA) through the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy and the APTA, and an ABPTS Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy (GCS). Dr. Houseknecht teaches Clinical Kinesiology, Management of Cardiopulmonary Conditions, Neurology in Physical Therapy, and a variety of other courses with a special interest in public health and health promotion. She has completed a graduate certificate program in College Teaching and Learning from Walden University. Dr. Houseknecht is a member of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association. When not teaching, Dr. Houseknecht practices in the local community as a geriatric physical therapist. She also enjoys spending time with her family, spending time outdoors, traveling, and being physically active.
