My name is Jessica Gregg and I have been an instructor at Mount Aloysius College since 2016. I have taught a variety of courses at Mount Aloysius College and enjoy teaching students both in the classroom and clinical setting.
I have worked as a registered nurse on a medical-surgical telemetry unit at UPMC Altoona. During this time, I received certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, NIH Stroke Scale, Critical Care, and Dysrhythmia Recognition and Treatment Courses. I received the UPMC Award for Commitment and Excellence in Service, and the Guardian Angel Award. Working as an instructor and registered nurse has allowed me to see the preparation for practice gap related to new graduate nurses from both an academic and clinical practice perspective. I focused my dissertation on this topic in order to better prepare students for their role as a registered nurse in the hospital setting.
My dissertation entitled “Perceptions of New Graduate Nurses Competency: Are Hospital Orientation Programs Enough” was published on ProQuest in 2018. I also presented this work during a podium and poster presentation at the American Nursing Conference in Las Vegas, NV.
I most recently published a manuscript entitled “Perceptions of Nurse Managers and Nurse Preceptors: Are New Graduate Nurses Displaying Competency According to the New Graduate Nurse Performance Survey?” in the Journal for Nurses in Professional Development.
I have always had a passion for nursing and teaching and have been blessed to combine both of these roles. I use my experience learned both in the classroom, and on the clinical unit to help students on their journey to become a nurse.
I am happily married and we have been blessed with a beautiful daughter named Mia. We enjoy going for walks, exercising, watching movies, and eating at different restaurants.
