Most high school teachers work in either public or private schools. Some teach in public, magnet and charter schools. Others teach in private, religious or secular schools.
The Bachelor’s degree has student teaching assignments. Junior students tutor students in math and or reading as part of coursework. Student teaching and tutoring placements occur in local schools and child care centers.
The demand for high school teachers is expected to rise 6% from 2014 to 2024, an increase of 55,900 jobs.
The average median wage for a high school teacher in the state of Pennsylvania is $64,380.
