Esports at Mount Aloysius College

Mount Aloysius College has become a fierce competitor, both on the field and in the gaming arena. The Mount recently launched a new competitive esports program in response to both student interest and an nationally evolving collegiate landscape. With teams forming to compete in titles such as Rocket League, Valorant, and Overwatch, now is the time to get involved in gaming at Mount Aloysius.

The launch included the hiring of a competitive esports coach, as well as a fully tricked out esports lab.

The fully customized esports gaming arena includes everything from Victory branded gaming chairs and modern desks, to the incredible MSI Z390 A-PRO motherboard partnered with large 4K monitors at every station. The Mount went above and beyond in creating this program and now has the ability to provide a highly competitive, fun experience for both current and incoming students to excel in the world of Collegiate esports.

Now is the time to score goals, clutch out, protect the payload, and level up your gaming skills at Mount Aloysius College.

FAQs

The best way to become a club member is to email esports@mtaloy.edu and set up a time to visit our esports arena. All club members get to join our private Discord server, play 4K console and PC games, attend club events on a regular basis, and potentially win free swag in the process.

Club meetings, along with a schedule of events, are usually announced via our club Discord server. Monthly activities vary based on the season and availability of club members, but we usually run Smash Bros. tournaments, Arcade Week, LAN parties, and live streams each semester.

Varsity squads, national competitions, virtual tournaments, charity events, and the Mountie Blue and Grey teams are all managed by the head esports coach. If you’re interested in joining a team or becoming a team manager, please email esports@mtaloy.edu for more info.

Yes! Scholarships are available on an individual basis and are awarded at the discretion of the head coach. For more information about scholarships, fill out our interest form and coach will follow up with you.

We’re always looking for new games and titles to add to our ever growing roster! That being said, we only competitively pursue games which align themselves with the core standards of Mount Aloysius College and our Mercy values. Club games and program installations are determined on a case-by-case basis by the head esports coach.

Not usually. Most, if not everything, PC-related is currently an available option for both club and varsity use within the ESports Arena. Console events are usually completely made up of setups brought by our players or the event organizers. Stay tuned to our esports social media feeds in order to see what club events are coming up and where the varsity teams will be competing in this semester.
