More About Tim’s Story:

Tim Michrina headshotTim Michrina ’14 was a Secondary Education/English Education graduate of Mount Aloysius College from Portage, Pennsylvania. During his time at Mount Aloysius, Tim was deeply involved in theatre productions and continued his passion for the arts in the local theatre community after graduation.

In his senior year, just before Christmas 2013, Tim experienced a massive heart attack and a paralyzing stroke. In what many described as a miracle, he recovered within a few short months and went on to perform the lead role of Jesus in Godspell during the College’s Spring 2014 musical production.

After graduating, Tim became a beloved teacher at Northern Cambria School District and spent more than three years teaching in Alaska at the Lower Kuskokwim School District. He was well known for his love of theatre, the arts, and music, often playing guitar with his bandmates and friends.

Tragically, in 2021, Tim experienced another health complication that took his life. In his memory, Tim’s family and friends came together to establish the Timothy Michrina ’14 Memorial Scholarship, which benefits Mount Aloysius students who are minoring in theatre or actively involved in theatre productions.

This event holds special significance, as the Timothy Michrina ’14 Memorial Scholarship will be awarded for the first time during the evening’s program—celebrating Tim’s legacy by directly supporting a student who shares his passion for theatre and the arts.
