Dr. Emily Houseknecht graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Following graduation, Dr. Houseknecht worked in a variety of PT settings including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled rehabilitation, and home health care. Dr. Houseknecht is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor, Certified Exercise Expert in the Aging Adult (CEEAA) through the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy and the APTA, and an ABPTS Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy (GCS). Dr. Houseknecht teaches Clinical Kinesiology, Medical Terminology, Basic Principles of PTA Lab, Management of Cardiopulmonary Conditions, Neurology in Physical Therapy, Principles of Conditioning, and Electronic Medical Records. She has completed a graduate certificate program in College Teaching and Learning from Walden University. Dr. Houseknecht is a member of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association where she serves as Co-State Advocate for the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy. When not teaching, Dr. Houseknecht practices as a home health care Physical Therapist in the local community. She also enjoys spending time with her family, taking care of her orchard and garden, traveling, being physically active, and refinishing antique furniture.
