The group of eager Mounties will work with El Hogar de Niños Enmanuel, an orphanage located in San Pedro Sula. This orphanage has partnered with TOM Shoes and has given millions of pairs of shoes to the less fortunate.
Brianna Baker, Mercy Center coordinator and head volleyball coach, will lead the efforts in Honduras. “We’re all inspired to give back because it’s made us realize how fortunate we are and how important giving back to others is,” Baker said. “The students learn so much from stepping out of their comfort zone and reaching out to others who need it. It’s about engaging in the lives of those we meet and making as much of an impact as we can.”
The Mounties will proudly represent the mercy values that are intertwined in the college’s mission which include justice, hospitality, service and mercy.
