Cresson, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius College volleyball team continues to succeed on the court and in the classroom. For the fifth year in a row, the Mounties have earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Mounties ended the year with a stellar 3.46 team GPA.

The AVCA award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average.

Volleyball Head Coach, Brianna Baker pushes her student-athletes to succeed on and off the court. “It is a great honor to receive this award. It shows how hard our student-athletes work in the classroom. We strive for excellence on and off the court and for the players to be well-rounded individuals,” Baker said.  “Being a student who is involved in extracurricular activities requires a lot of determination and time management. I am beyond proud of the efforts and achievements of the Mount Aloysius women’s volleyball team.”

Mount Aloysius College offers 14 NCAA Division III sports. Students choose from over 70 academic programs which statistically earn graduates good jobs or a ready pathway to grad programs. The College’s strong academic reputation, especially in nursing and the career-responsive health sciences, and its beautiful, rural campus continues attracting students and their parents looking for a “next level” college experience.
