Cresson, Pa. – Mount Aloysius College has announced a partnership with Southern Illinois University’s (SIU) online cardiac interventional program that will allow radiography students to continue their education and enhance their skills in this field. Beginning fall 2024, students who graduate from the Mount Aloysius radiography program with an associate degree will have the option to earn a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in cardiac interventional radiography at Mount Aloysius and a certificate in cardiac-interventional radiography by completing courses at SIU.

This partnership will allow students to work with advanced modalities and receive additional credentials after they have registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and earned the group’s certification.

“We are thrilled about this new articulation opportunity and partnership between the Mount Aloysius radiography program and Southern Illinois University’s cardiac interventional program,” said Katilyn Sullivan, Program Instructor in SIU’s cardiac interventional program. “(It) allows students to complete the coursework online and clinical work close to home. The synergy between these programs will undoubtedly elevate skills, knowledge, and patient care, paving the way for future leaders in cardiac radiography.”

Giving radiography students the opportunity to pursue this degree will not only lead to future career opportunities, but also address the growing demand for skilled medical professionals.

“The partnership with Southern Illinois University’s cardiac interventional program will be the first of its kind for our students and will meet the needs of our local healthcare systems,” said Dr. Chris Lovett, Academic Dean for the School of Nursing & Health Studies. “We are thankful that SIU was open to exploring and ultimately establishing this state-of-the-art online program that comprehensively impacts our students and community.”
