Cresson, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius College community will celebrate Mercy Week, an annual tradition that honors the College’s history and values, beginning Monday, September 21 and concluding on Friday, September 25.

Mercy Week will feature numerous events themed to and focusing on the four core values of the Sisters of Mercy: mercy, service, justice, and hospitality. Presentations include a panel discussion by the College’s ACE department entitled “Voices of the Marginalized,” a discussion of Pope Leo XIV’s “Magnifica Humanitas” (“Magnificant Humanity”), and other events throughout the week.

Mount Aloysius is one of 17 colleges and universities in the United States that are affiliated with the Religious Sisters of Mercy. The College traces its founding to the efforts of seven Sisters of Mercy in 1853. Mercy Week honors the history and heritage of the order, which began when Mother Catherine McAuley first opened the doors of the House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland in 1827.

“During Mercy Week, we reaffirm the College’s dedication to the core values of the Sisters of Mercy by hosting events offering discussion and reflection on their practical applications today,” said President John McKeegan.

“This year, we open the door to 2027, when we join the Sisters of Mercy in celebrating 200 years of Mercy. This year’s Mercy Week is a taste of what is to come next year, with a majority of events on campus reflecting on the Mercy Values in some way.”

Events are scheduled for every day of Mercy Week. In addition to the presentations mentioned, Mountie Mission, Ministry, & Service staff will host a women’s resource fair and a trip to the PA March for Life walk in State College. Also scheduled are a campus blood drive and a concert from Vox Nova, the Mount’s student choir. Mercy Week masses are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday, with an Adoration following Thursday’s congregation.
