Cresson, Pa. — Once again Mount Aloysius College was notified that it earned recognized as a “College of Distinction” for the 2019-2020 academic year.  In addition, the Mount Aloysius Business, Education and Nursing majors and Career Development office have also all been singled out for College of Distinction individual program recognition.  College of Distinction recognition is reserved for colleges and universities that excel in “student-focused” education. Colleges and universities are nominated for Colleges of Distinction recognition by high school counselor recommendations and quantitative research.

Mount Aloysius Vice President for Enrollment Management, Dr. Frank Crouse, Jr. noted that the College’s consistent goal of preparing students for great careers is reflected in the College of Distinction recognition.  “Mount Aloysius College is proud to continue to highlight our faculty’s strong commitment to teaching undergraduate students, coupled with our focus on providing an active campus with many opportunities for personal development,” he said. Dr. Crouse added, “We are proud of our Mercy Heritage, career-centric education connected to the liberal arts and sciences, and our students’ success. Mount Aloysius College remains a mission driven institution as reflected in our many accomplishments”

Colleges of Distinction are assessed using four criteria: Engaged Students – the college creates an environment which encourages students to speak up and challenge the status quo; Excellent Teaching–the college’s faculty fosters new ways of thinking; Vibrant Community–students are exposed to community- and career-oriented learning experiences and internships; and Successful Outcomes–the college prepares students with a portfolio for a successful career upon graduation.  Colleges featured on must meet or exceed standards in each of these four categories.
