Cresson, Pa. — Mount Aloysius is excited to host Mounties Hooked on Hockey: Achieving your Dreams on Jan. 17, 2019. This exciting afternoon will feature Johnstown Tomahawks players, staff and coaches and a teleconference with Sam Lafferty, a prospect in the Pittsburgh Penguins system. The event will start at 3 p.m. in the Bertschi Center and Technology Commons with the Tomahawks and Lafferty will join the conversation at 4 p.m.

Players and coaches will talk about their professional hockey journey and the importance of establishing goals throughout life. After their discussion and a question and answer session, players will showcase hockey tricks in the Bertschi building.

Sam Lafferty will join the event through a video conference. Lafferty, a Hollidaysburg, Pa. native, was signed to a two-year, entry-level contract and reported to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins after being drafted in the fourth round by the Penguins. He completed a stellar career at Brown University. He was Brown’s team leader during his senior year in assists (14) and points (22), and his eight goals were second on the club.

During the 2018-2019 season, Lafferty has scored five goals, 19 assists and has collected 24 points.

Students will learn team-building, perseverance, and about the importance of collaboration related to hockey. The hockey players will speak from their personal experience.

The public is welcome to attend Mounties Hooked on Hockey. In case of inclement weather, a snow day of Jan. 31 will be used. Giveaways and light refreshments will be available. For more information, call 886-6420.
