If you’re an athlete, you know that playing on a high-quality, new surface can help you elevate your game. Mountie athletes learned how true this is when, in 2018, the soccer field was upgraded to a new artificial turf surface.
The upgrade also included stadium seating and a press box. In addition to practices and games, outdoor events can be held on the field even in the evening, thanks to the four new sets of lights installed around the field. The new turf will allow Mountie athletes to practice and play games in almost any weather without worrying about damaging the field.
Locker rooms for the field are located inside the nearby Mountie Stables, which was built only a few years before.
“The new field is a great addition to the Ray and Louise Walker Athletic Complex,” said Kevin Kime, Director of Athletics at Mount Aloysius. “It gives Mountie players a professional-level setting to play and practice, and it gives fans a great place to cheer them on.”
The field is home to the Mountie men’s and women’s soccer teams and the Mountie women’s lacrosse team.
