This scholarship was established by the Cresson Corporation of the Sisters of Mercy to honor the memory of their foundress, Sr. Catherine McAuley. The Sisters of Mercy were founded in Dublin, Ireland in 1831 by Sr. Catherine McAuley, an heiress who used her fortune to serve the poor, sick and uneducated, especially women and children. At present, the scholarship is enhanced through the generosity of the Sisters of Mercy of the Dallas Regional Community.
