About Theatre at Mount Aloysius
Mount Aloysius College Theatre produces challenging productions each academic year. Genres of productions include comedies, musicals, dramas, classical pieces, student-directed plays and interdisciplinary study involvement. Interested students take part in:
- Acting and musical performance
- Scenery, costume, lighting and sound design
- Scenery and costume construction
- Backstage running crews
- Stage Management
- Public Relations
- Poster and Program Design
- Directing
The program participates in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) conference each year and has had many student receive special honors and nominations from recent productions. Students from any major may participate in theatre, and scholarships are available for interested students. Theatre Scholarships
Please contact Nathan Magee, Theatre Director, if you would like to set up an audition time for a theatre scholarship. The Theatre Department rewards scholarships to deserving students based on academic excellence and theatrical merit in the following areas:
- Acting
- Directing
- Design
- Costuming
- Set Construction
- Lighting
- Sound
- Public Relations
- Be a full-time student at Mount Aloysius.
- Complete the application and attach to your personal essay.
- Send three letters of recommendation within two weeks of your application.
- Schedule and complete the interview / audition process
- Be passionate about being an active part of Mount Aloysius College Theatre!
- Participate in two theatrical productions on campus (acting, technical, design) per semester
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Be registered as a full-time student.
- Attend all strikes (removal of the set following each production)
- Be leaders among the student body with promotion of theatrical events
Please note: Participation will normally require a minimum of 40 hours per semester unless otherwise instructed. If you have an official position, you must complete all assigned tasks (even if it might go over the required hours). The $1,000 theatre scholarship is renewable each year, provided the above criteria is met.
