Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Hybrid

This 7-12 secondary education post-baccalaureate certification is designed for individuals who already have a bachelor’s degree in English, biology, history, or political science and leads directly to state certification to teach in middle schools and high schools. Our flexible courses and small class sizes offer a high-energy, hands-on learning environment, where professors provide personalized support to meet your educational needs and personal goals.

Because of our unique hybrid model, this secondary education certification program allows you to continue working while taking classes full-time for the first two semesters.

Even when you aren’t on campus, you still have the full breadth of Mount Aloysius College student services available to you, including peer and professional tutoring, professional counseling, and career development. Students will be required to complete student teaching responsibilities for the last two semesters.

Most high school teachers work in either public or private schools. Some teach in public, magnet, and charter schools. Others teach in private, religious or secular schools.

The bachelor’s degree has student teaching assignments. Junior students tutor students in reading as part of coursework. Student teaching and tutoring placements occur in local private and public schools.

The annual median wage for high school teachers in 2023 was $65,220. Nationally, about 67,100 openings for high school teachers are projected each year, on average.
