Cresson, Pa. – For the second year in a row, Mount Aloysius College will host a Gaelic Gathering on May 11, starting at 5pm in front of the Main Administration Building on campus. The festive event, open to alumni, employees, members of the Class of 2023, and community members, is a fundraiser for Mountie student service trips, as well as study abroad trips. Highlighting the Irish roots of Mount Aloysius, the event will feature themed appetizers, axe throwing, and a live Irish band.
Mount Aloysius College was established by the Religious Sisters of Mercy, an order formed by Mother Catherine McAuley in Dublin, Ireland, as a congregation devoted to service. The College’s Alumni Engagement Director, Luke Fragello, says this history inspired the event.
“It’s only natural that this Irish-themed event helps benefit service projects on campus,” Fragello said. “Service is at the heart of who we are at Mount Aloysius, and it was at the heart of the founding of the Sisters of Mercy in Ireland. We know that participating in service leaves a lifelong impact on our students, and believe this is something worthy of celebration.”
